Portia Propst, the owner of Central Carolina Gymnastics, has had a life-long passion for the sport of gymnastics. Portia spent many hours a day in the gym through her adolescent and teenage years, becoming a class one competitive gymnast. Through her hard work, dedication, and love for the sport, she earned a full athletic scholarship to North Carolina State University where she competed throughout the four years she attended the university. She earned her degree in Business.
Upon graduating from NC State, she could not leave the sport of gymnastics she loved and had been a part of since she was a child. Portia's desire to combine her degree in Business and passion for gymnastics merged in August of 1992, when she opened the doors of Central Carolina Gymnastics. Since opening Central Carolina Gymnastics, she has been recognized on the local and state level for her volunteer services towards Special Olympics. Portia keeps Central Carolina Gymnastics present within its community, taking part in fundraisers, volunteering, and giving back to those that have given Central Carolina Gymnastics so much throughout the years.
Portia's vast knowledge of the sport does not end with her owning Central Carolina Gymnastics. She has been a judge for the sport since 1986. Portia has held her national judges rating for 20+ years now, giving her the privilege to judge gymnastics competitions locally, state wide, regionally, and nationally.
Celebrating her 25th year in business in 2018, Portia hopes to continue sharing her passion for the sport of gymnastics for many years to come!
